The U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad Examination is a rigorous competition involving an assessment of Chemistry skills usually amassed by the completion of an A.P. Chemistry course. General Brown had 7 students compete at the local level at a satellite location offered by Watertown High School. Alexis Anderson, Reina Guerriero, Jaye Harrod, Evan Klindt, Nathan Lee, Patrick Loftus and Zachary Miller participated in a 2 hour qualifying exam on Saturday, March 17.
Two of our students, Nathan Lee and Jaye Harrod, qualified for advancement to the next level of competition at Canton High School on Sunday, April 22. This exam will be about 5 hours long and contain a calculations section and lab practical. Runners up, Patrick Loftus and Zachary Miller, are also preparing as alternates.
The level of competition for these exams requires much additional after school preparation far above the level of a state regents exam. We are so proud of our dedicated students willing to take on such advanced academic challenges. Congratulations and good luck!
