GB students earn top awards in essay contest
Three General Brown Junior/Senior High School eighth-grade students were recently recognized by the Dionne-Rumble Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7227 for earning the top three spots in an essay writing contest.
Hannah Trimper, Julia Carrick and Isabelle Wetzel earned the first, second and third places, respectively, in the VFW Post 7227 Auxiliary's Patriot's Pen youth scholarship essay contest. The contest theme was "What Makes America Great."
The Patriot’s Pen essay competition is open to all students in grades 6-8 with a top award of $5,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.
