On May 6, 2016, the Dexter Elementary third grade participated in a video conference with Indian River Primary (Philadelphia, NY) and St. Ambrose Primary school in Ohio. The video conference challenged Mrs. Ketcham’s and Mrs. Wiley’s classes to compete in a spaghetti & marshmallow project. Groups of students received fifteen pieces of spaghetti and fifteen marshmallows. The object was to build the tallest structure possible using the spaghetti and marshmallows in fifteen minutes. It was an entertaining and fun project for the students and teachers. The students thought it was “cool” to compete with students from other schools using the videoconferencing equipment.
