• Dear Parents/Guardians,

Brownville-Glen Park is eagerly awaits the arrival of spring, Our building has been very busy and I wanted to share some of the highlights and upcoming events in our school.

The NYS English Language Arts Exam for grades 3-6 will be April 2 & 3, 2019 and the NYS Math Exam for grades 3-6 will be May 1 & 2, 2019. This year, testing will be shorter in length and there are only two days of testing. We encourage parents to talk to their children about having a confident and positive attitude for these state tests. We realize that some test questions may be difficult but we encourage all students to go at their pace and do the best that they can. Our PTO will once again this year provide breakfast to our 3rd through 6th grade students each day of our NYS ELA and Math tests. This collaborative effort is greatly appreciated and we think it is a positive for all of our students. I would like to share some of the events that have taken place in the building. Our building has been very busy the past few months. Some of the highlights included:

    • Grades 1-2 Concert was held in the General Brown Auditorium. Congratulations to our students and Miss Davis for a wonderful concert. We had tremendous support from our 1st and 2nd grade families!
    • Our school celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday with a week-long celebration. Activities included an assembly, decorating classroom doors and wearing different outfits each day of the week. We also invited HS students down to read Dr. Seuss stories to our students.
    • We also have two assemblies in March. PTO has sponsored an assembly called Realize Anything is Possible. (RAP) Topics will include overcoming obstacles, setting goals and setting goals. We also have a Ft. Drum Band that will present to our students.

The coming months are filled with a variety of activities in our building. We look forward to seeing you and thank you for your continued support.

Please do not park in front of the school building during the hours when school buses are present for the safety of our staff and students.

    Sincerely,

    Joseph R. O’Donnell
