No auto calls for COVID
District shifts away from automated calls for COVID notifications
Beginning today, Monday, January 11, General Brown Central School District will report COVID-19 cases via email and through its website, but will no longer send voice messages to report them to the general school community.
The district wants to ensure automated calls are reserved for emergencies and time-sensitive notifications to families, and administrators are concerned that the volume of calls may cause families and employees to become complacent in listening to the messages.
Phone calls related to COVID-19 will be reserved for notifying close contacts of an individual who has tested positive for the virus or if a school needs to shift to fully-remote learning.
