Dexter Elementary School
A Message from the Principal:
Over the past three months, our school has been filled with exciting learning opportunities and memorable experiences for our students. Classrooms have remained busy with engaging lessons that strengthen students’ reading, writing, mathematics, and problem-solving skills. Along with strong academic work, we have also enjoyed several special activities that brought learning to life. During the holiday season, our school was transformed by our Polar Express–themed celebrations, where students participated in festive activities centered around the beloved story while building a sense of excitement and community. More recently, students had a wonderful time at our Valentine’s Pajama Dance, which provided a fun opportunity to celebrate friendship and school spirit.
February also brought the celebration of the 100th Day of School, which was filled with creativity and learning. Students and staff enjoyed dressing up for the occasion while participating in a variety of activities focused on counting, building, and celebrating the milestone of reaching 100 days of learning together. We also kicked off Read Across America with a school-wide assembly that highlighted the importance of reading and the joy that books bring to our lives. Throughout the month of March, students will participate in several “Drop Everything and Read” moments, taking time during the school day to pause, pick up a book, and enjoy reading. In addition, our Rev Theatre performances have begun and will continue throughout the spring for different grade levels, providing students with engaging live theatre experiences that connect to literacy and the arts.
As we look ahead, we are excited for the arrival of warmer spring weather and the opportunities it brings. Our staff has already begun planning some of our traditional end-of-year celebrations and activities, and we look forward to sharing more details with families in the coming weeks. Please also note that Spring Recess will begin on Friday, April 3, and students will return to school on Monday, April 13. At the heart of everything we do is our continued focus on strengthening instruction and ensuring every child experiences meaningful learning each day. We are incredibly grateful for the collaboration and support of our families, which helps make our school community so strong. Thank you for partnering with us and for supporting the incredible work of our dedicated staff as we continue to create engaging and positive experiences for our students.
With gratitude for our school community,
