Dexter Elementary School
A Message from the Principal:
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As the end of the school year quickly approaches, please be sure to check our monthly calendar, district website, and ParentSquare for important end-of-year updates. June will be a busy month, and we do not want you to miss anything!
As I reflect on the past several months, I would also like to take a moment to sincerely thank the students, staff, and families of Dexter Elementary for so graciously welcoming me into my new role. It has been a wonderful experience working alongside everyone as I transitioned into the Dexter Elementary community. I truly appreciate the kindness, support, and partnership that have made this transition such a positive one. I am excited to finish the year strong, celebrate our students’ many successes, and begin planning for an exciting 2026–2027 school year!
Please note the following important dates and reminders:
- There is no school on Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.
- Kindergarten Promotion is planned for Monday, June 22nd. The location and times are still being finalized, but we will share that information with families soon.
Our end-of-year calendar was recently approved by the Board of Education. This plan is based on the assumption that no additional emergency closure days will be required:
- Monday, June 22nd: Full day for grades PK-6
- Tuesday, June 23rd: Full day for grades PK-6
- Wednesday, June 24th: Early dismissal for PK-6 (no PM PK)
Summer vacation officially begins for students on Thursday, June 25th!
In the coming weeks, our students will be attending field trips and outdoor activities. Please remember to apply sunscreen before your child comes to school, as the weather will continue to get warmer as we move through June.
I would like to close by once again thanking our teachers, staff, students, and families for a fantastic year. It is truly a privilege to work together to provide a safe, supportive, and enriching environment where our students can learn and grow. I hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer, and we look forward to welcoming you back in September!
Sincerely,
Joe Folino
