A Message from the Principal:

Dear Dexter Families and Community,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer filled with time to relax, recharge, and make memories with family and friends. As we prepare to welcome our students back to Dexter Elementary, I am incredibly excited about the year ahead.

There is something special about the start of a new school year. Our hallways and classrooms are ready to once again be filled with the energy, curiosity, laughter, and excitement of our students. Over the summer, our staff has been hard at work preparing classrooms, participating in professional development, reviewing curriculum, and finding new ways to make Dexter an even better place for our students to learn and grow.

As we begin the year, our focus remains simple: Every Student. Every Day. Keep Growing. We want every child who walks through our doors to feel safe, supported, challenged, and excited to come to school. At Dexter, we recognize that academic growth is only one part of that work. We also want our students to develop confidence, kindness, responsibility, perseverance, and a sense of belonging within our school community.

This year will also bring some exciting changes and continued growth at Dexter. As with any new school year, there may be a few adjustments along the way. We will continue to listen, learn, and work together to make decisions that put students first while maximizing the time they have to learn, play, build relationships, and simply enjoy being kids.

One of the things I appreciated most during my first year at Dexter was the tremendous support our school receives from families and the greater community. Whether attending a school event, volunteering, supporting the PTO, communicating with a teacher, or simply asking your child about their day, your involvement makes a difference. Our strongest work happens when our school, families, and community work together.

I encourage families to stay connected throughout the year, ask questions, share feedback, and celebrate the many successes—both big and small—that will happen along the way. I look forward to continuing to listen and learn from our students, staff, families, and community as we work together to make Dexter the best place it can be.

Most importantly, I cannot wait to see our students walk through the doors again. To our returning Lions, welcome back! To the students and families joining Dexter for the first time, welcome to the Dexter family! We are glad you are here.
