Anticipated Special Education Teacher
General Brown CSD is seeking a dedicated and compassionate special education teacher to provide high-quality instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. This role involves implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), collaborating with families and staff, and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will begin on or about September 1, 2025. This is a full-time probationary appointment leading toward tenure. Initial assignment is anticipated to be Brownville Glen-Park Elementary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess lessons tailored to meet the unique needs of students with IEPs.
- Implement evidence-based instructional strategies and accommodations in alignment with students' goals.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure effective inclusion practices.
- Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and report findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and team planning sessions, as needed.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student performance and IEP implementation.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and growth.
- Address behavioral challenges using positive behavior intervention strategies.
Qualifications:
- Valid NYS teaching certification. Will consider applicants working toward certification.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, including those with learning, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with technology tools and software for special education (preferred).

Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement a school counseling program (educational, vocational, social) to meet the needs of all the age groups involved in grades 7-12. Assess and identify student needs, developing and implementing targeted interventions for at-risk students.
- Counsel with individuals and groups as situations may demand. Provide opportunities as needed for a student to discuss their plans and or problems to analyze their goals, to appraise themselves in relation to their objectives and to formulate a plan for achieving goals.
- Maintain positive relationships with students and parents
- Maintain the health and safety of all students
- Collaborate with parents, administration, classroom teachers, special education, and academic intervention service providers
- Knowledge of computers, technology, google suite, is strongly desired

Coordinate with community agencies for additional student support services when necessary. Provide crisis intervention as needed and act as an advocate for students' best interests.
Qualifications:
- New York State Certification as a School Counselor

Responsibilities/Scope:
Working knowledge of common cleaning, disinfecting methods, materials and equipment; skill
in the use of cleaners and maintenance equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaner, carpet shampooer and
floor buffer); ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to lift
heavy objects and perform work requiring bending, climbing, reaching, and repetitive motion;
