Position Overview:
The Elementary School Counselor or School Social Worker will serve as a vital member of the student support team, providing direct and indirect services to students in grades K–6. This individual will promote students' academic achievement, personal growth, mental health, and overall well-being while working collaboratively with staff, families, and outside agencies. Initial assignment to be determined and will be at Dexter or Brownville Glen-Park Elementary School.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to address academic, emotional, behavioral, and social needs.
- Support the development and implementation of social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum.
- Partner with families and community resources to support students facing trauma, mental health challenges, or other barriers to learning.
- Conduct risk assessments and crisis interventions as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and the MTSS team to identify and support students requiring Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
- Contribute to a positive school climate by facilitating restorative practices and promoting inclusivity.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records and reports.
Qualifications:
Required (one of the following):
- NYS Certification as a School Counselor, OR
- NYS Certification as a School Social Worker (LMSW or LCSW preferred)
Preferred:
- Experience working in an elementary school setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Culturally responsive, student-centered approach
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practices, MTSS, and restorative practices
Salary and Benefits:

General Brown Central School District is seeking a responsible and compassionate Bus Attendant to assist in providing safe and reliable transportation for students. The Bus Attendant will work closely with the bus driver to ensure students board, ride, and exit the bus safely while following all district policies and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist students with boarding, securing seat belts, and safely exiting the bus.
- Monitor student behavior and ensure compliance with bus safety rules.
- Provide support to students with disabilities or special needs as required.
- Communicate effectively with the bus driver, school staff, and parents when necessary.
- Maintain a calm and orderly environment on the bus.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow safety protocols.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with students of all ages.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
- Experience working with children is a plus.

General Brown CSD has an opening for a Full-Time Mail Supply Clerk to begin August 27th, 2025. This posting closes when filled and a non-instructional application can be found here. This is a Civil Service position and the successful candidate must also meet Jefferson County Civil Service Requirements for this position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1) Eligibility for a New York State operator's license issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles at the time of application. Possession of a license at the time of appointment.
2) Incumbents are required to lift and transport heavy packages. Candidates should possess physical conditions commensurate with the demands of the position.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mail Supply Clerks perform manual and clerical activities in the processing and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail and packages. This work involves responsibility for the prompt processing and delivery of mail, packages, and related materials and for the operation of a small supply room. Incumbents may be required to operate mechanical storehouse equipment and lift heavy packages. Work is performed under general supervision following specific oral and written directions.
- Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail
- Picks up and delivers inter-office mail and materials
- Physically unloads shipments of packages and materials, checks in deliveries
- Receives and maintains records of incoming parcel post, express, and freight shipments
- Unpacks, counts, and sorts incoming articles to verify receipt against order and prepares for intra- and inter-agency deliveries
- Processes outgoing mail and packages, including the operation of a meter-mailing machine
- Prepares packages for shipment by parcel service or other official delivery service
- Receives and stores supplies and related materials
- Runs errands and performs other general messenger work
- Performs a variety of clerical duties
- Develops efficient storage methods
- Sweeps, mops, and cleans kitchen
- Transports food to schools and BOCES
- Helps unload food from transport vehicle
